To You it is Fitting to Praise ◇ Documentation from the Lighting of the Second
Candle in the Holy Residence of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a
Tonight – the second night of Chanukah, a time when the light increases and the darkness surrenders, tens of thousands of the People of Israel lit the second candle of Chanukah, to draw down the light of simple emunah (faith), strengthening of the mind, and joy of the heart within the days of concealment.
Our teacher and leader, Rabbi Berland shlit"a, also lit the second candle of Chanukah, as thousands of Anshei Shelomenu (our community of followers) gathered and came from all over the country to be included in the holy occasion, to stand by the light of the Tzaddik, who reveals in every generation the light of Chanukah within the darkness.
Before you is documentation of the lighting ceremony – first in our Beis Medrash (study hall), and afterwards at the lighting of the Chanukiah (menorah) in his holy residence, in an atmosphere of holiness and dveykus (attachment to the Divine), abundant prayer, and awakening of the heart, to draw the light of Chanukah into all the days of the year, to be strengthened in emunah (faith), in joy, and in hope for a complete salvation with mercy.
