Trump's Ultimatum and the Breslov Cry • A Current Affairs Column from "The Breslov Shuvu Banim Calendar"

How to learn to seize the momentum. From Trump's ultimatum to the Breslov cry ○ Nachman Gilad in a current affairs column from the Breslov Calendar - the platform for Shuvu Banim Breslov Chassidim

Even though everyone already knows and has grown accustomed to the fact that with Trump, the unexpected is the expected, Trump still manages to surprise everyone every single time. This is what happened this week during the night hours (Israel time) between Monday and Tuesday. In an interview with Fox News, Trump declared a new ultimatum: if Hamas does not release all the hostages by this coming Shabbat (Sabbath), the ceasefire agreement will collapse, and with it, the gates of hell will open upon the Gazans. All this while the world has not yet recovered from the "transfer plan" and the future financial vision Trump has for the Gaza Strip, within which he plans a voluntary exile for the Gazan residents (the terrorists) to Jordan and Egypt, the leveling of the entire Strip, the collapse of Hamas, and turning the place into a dream island of hotels and resorts. Even Ben Gvir did not dream of all this goodness in his rosiest dreams.

And here it essentially depends on how well Israel will know how to leverage this Sha'as Ratzon (time of Divine favor), to eradicate the Nazi Hamas, and to demand with all its might the return of all the hostages to their homes. From the perspective of the White House, the check is open; Israel only needs to know how to use it. Anyone who has followed the news a bit has noticed that there are many commentators trying to diminish the ultimatum, to settle for the phase that was agreed upon in advance, but not to go for the "whole pot." As of the writing of these lines, there is no clear direction that Israel will take, and if G-d forbid it remains so, there is no greater missed opportunity than this.

As Breslov Chassidim, we can take a great moral lesson from this for the Milchemet HaYetzer (war against the Evil Inclination). We are in exalted days, days in which in Breslov we cry out, "Save me from the klipah (spiritual husk) of Haman-Amalek and merit me the holiness of Mordechai and Esther." In Breslov, they know that "Haman-Amalek" is the source of evil, despair, and distance, and in contrast, the "holiness of Mordechai and Esther"—the drawing close and clinging to the light of the Tzaddik—is the main thing and the foundation upon which everything depends. Therefore, we have a special ultimatum here, a tremendous Sha'as Ratzon (time of Divine favor) in these forty days until Purim to go for the "whole pot," and to understand that the same "old and foolish king" (the Evil Inclination), that Nazi and cruel Haman-Amalek, is responsible for everything we are going through. We must demand with all our might, as The Rav (Rabbi Berland) shlit"a declares quite often: "It is forbidden to give up, do not give up!" Let us increase our prayers for this in Hisbodedus (secluded personal prayer), in formal prayers, and at every free moment, to merit to truly draw close to the Tzaddik, until we merit that he returns all our lost items forever.
