What Did Moshe Rabbeinu Do All Day and Night from the Time of Fleeing Pharaoh

Prayer to merit to Hitbodedut by Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlit"a.

As is known, a central teaching of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov is the importance of the daily practice of hitbodedut, secluding oneself in prayer and meditation with the Creator.

Therefore, we bring before you this amazing prayer written by Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlit"a, which among other things, discusses the primary occupation of Moshe Rabbeinu and the other Seven Shepherds:

From Leket Tefilot #23 - "Hitbodedut"

Ribbono Shel Olam – Master of the World, let me merit to do hitbodedut with awesome and immense desire, without nodding or dozing off, and to sing all types of songs in hitbodedut, songs of devekut (clinging to Hashem) and teshuva (repentance).
Ribbono Shel Olam, Dweller of the High Heavens, Who sits in the heavens above, Who sees all my secrets and the thoughts of my heart, please purify me to serve You in truth, for this is my entire desire, and I have no other desire and no other thought, and all my desire in this hitbodedut is only to draw close to You with a whole heart.
And You revealed to us that during an hour of hitbodedut before You with a whole heart, we save the entire world from all types of terrible decrees. Then it is possible to save the world, so that no Jew should die or be killed during that hour, and no person in the world. For during an hour of hitbodedut, when we do it with a whole heart, we sweeten all the judgments from the entire world, and then Hashem Yitbarach has no possibility of decreeing any decree in the world. Therefore, please save us, Ribbono Shel Olam, that we may be able to do hitbodedut before You for the entire hour with all our heart and soul, with tremendous weeping and phenomenal joy.
Please, Merciful One, through the power of our holy Rebbe, and through the power of the Seven Shepherds who spent all the days of their lives in hitbodedut, especially Moshe Rabbeinu, who merited to do hitbodedut day and night from the age of twenty until the age of eighty, and was only involved in hitbodedut, in songs and praises on mountains, valleys, fields, and deserts, and there was nothing to interrupt him, and he never nodded off or fell to sleep, and he did not eat or drink, until he purified his body to such an extent that he never needed to eat, so great was his devekut and love of Hashem. So too may you give me the merit to also do hitbodedut before You with tremendous and wondrous desire, with flames of love, amidst true lowliness. May I merit to feel my nothingness like Avraham Avinu, who said, “I am dust and ashes,” and like King David, who said, “I am a worm and not a man,” and like Moshe and Aharon, who said, “And what are we?”
And I may I not divert my mind from You during the hour of hitbodedut for even a short moment, and that I will have on compassion on my younger years and my few years of life, which are only 120, which fly away like a flying bird and a fleeting dream. Therefore, during the hour of hitbodedut, may I take advantage of every moment and second, and that I will not dose off at all and may I know the extent of my tremendous lowliness, that there is nothing that can save me other than the hour of hitbodedut, when You turn aside from all Your other affairs and have mercy with all Your heart and soul on broken souls such as myself, and turn to them with Your immense mercy and elevate them from the lowest levels up to the most exalted levels, so may You elevate me as well, in Your tremendous mercy, from the lowest levels up to the most exalted levels, with no end and beyond comprehension, and perform for me wonders that You have not yet performed for any person before. And may I merit to return in complete repentance and to return all the Jewish people in repentance, and may we all merit to the complete redemption, the coming of Mashiach ben David, the rebuilding of the Temple, and the resurrection of the dead, speedily in our days, Amen.

י רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, זַכֵּנִי לְהִתְבּוֹדֵד בְּחֵשֶׁק עָצוּם וְרַב מְאֹד, לְלֹא שׁוּם נִמְנוּם וּתְנוּמָה, וְאָשִׁיר כָּל מִינֵי שִׁירִים בַּהִתְבּוֹדְדוּת שִירִים שֶׁל דְּבֵקוּת וּתְשׁוּבָה. רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, שׁוֹכֵן שְׁחָקִים, יוֹשֵׁב בַּשָּׁמַיִם מִמַּעַל, הָרוֹאֶה אֶת כָּל מִסְתָּרַי וְאֶת כָּל הֶגְיוֹנֵי לִבִּי, אָנָּא טַהֲרֵנִי לְעָבְדְּךָ בֶּאֱמֶת, כִּי זֶה כָּל רְצוֹנִי, וְאֵין לִי שׁוּם רָצוֹן אַחֵר וְשׁוּם מַחֲשָׁבָה אַחֶרֶת, וְכָל רְצוֹנִי בְּהִתְבּוֹדְדוּת זוֹ אַךְ וְרַק לְהִתְקָרֵב אֵלֶיךָ בְּלֵב שָׁלֵם, וְאַתָּה גִּלִּיתָ לָּנוּ שֶׁבְּשָׁעָה שֶׁמִּתְבּוֹדְדִים לְפָנֶיךָ בְּלֵב שָׁלֵם הֲרֵי אָז מַצִּילִים אֶת כָּל הָעוֹלָם כֻּלּוֹ מִכָּל מִינֵי גְּזֵרוֹת נוֹרָאוֹת, וְאָז אֶפְשָׁר לְהַצִּיל אֶת הָעוֹלָם שֶׁשּׁוּם יְהוּדִי לֹא יָמוּת וְלֹא יֵהָרֵג בְּאוֹתָהּ שָׁעָה, וְשׁוּם אָדָם בָּעוֹלָם, כִּי בִּשְׁעַת הַהִתְבּוֹדְדוּת שֶׁעוֹשִׁים זֹאת בְּלֵב שָׁלֵם אֲזַי מַמְתִּיקִים דִּינִים מִכָּל הָעוֹלָם, וַאֲזַי אֵין לְהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ שׁוּם אֶפְשָׁרוּת לִגְזֹר שׁוּם גְּזֵירָה בָּעוֹלָם כְּלָל. וְלָכֵן, אָנָּא הַצֵּל אוֹתָנוּ, רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, שֶׁנּוּכַל לְהִתְבּוֹדֵד לְפָנֶיךָ בְּמֶשֶׁךְ כָּל הַשָּׁעָה בְּכָל לֵב וָנֶפֶשׁ בִּבְכִיָּה עֲצוּמָה וּבְשִׁמְחָה נִפְלָאָה. אָנָּא רַחוּם, בְּכֹחַ רַבֵּנוּ הַקָּדוֹשׁ, וּבְכֹחַ שִׁבְעַת הָרוֹעִים שֶׁעָסְקוּ כָּל יְמֵי חַיֵּיהֶם בְּהִתְבּוֹדְדוּת, וּבִפְרָט מֹשֶׁה רַבֵּנוּ שֶׁזָּכָה לְהִתְבּוֹדֵד יוֹמָם וָלַיְלָה מִגִּיל 20 וְעַד גִּיל 80, שֶׁרַק עָסַק בְּהִתְבּוֹדְדֻיּוֹת וּבְשִׁירוֹת וְתִשְׁבָּחוֹת בֶּהָרִים וּבַגֵּאָיוֹת בַּשָּׂדוֹת וּבַמִּדְבָּרִיּוֹת וְלֹא הָיָה דָּבָר שֶׁהִפְסִיקוֹ, וּלְעוֹלָם לֹא נִמְנֵם וְלֹא נִרְדָּם לֹא אָכַל וְלֹא שָׁתָה, עַד שֶׁזִּכֵּךְ אֶת גּוּפוֹ כָּל כָּךְ שֶׁכְּבָר לֹא הָיָה צָרִיךְ לֶאֱכֹל לְעוֹלָם מֵרֹב דְּבֵקוּת וְאַהֲבַת יְיָ, כָּךְ זַכֵּה אוֹתִי גַּם כֵּן לְהִתְבּוֹדֵד לְפָנֶיךָ בְּחֵשֶׁק עָצוּם וְנִפְלָא בְּשַׁלְהוֹבִין דִּרְחִימוּתָא, מִתּוֹךְ שִׁפְלוּת אֲמִתִּי. וְאֶזְכֶּה לְהַרְגִּישׁ אֶת אַפְסִיּוּתִי כְּמוֹ אַבְרָהָם אָבִינוּ שֶׁאָמַר "וְאָנֹכִי עָפָר וָאֵפֶר", וּכְמוֹ דָּוִד הַמֶּלֶךְ שֶׁאָמַר "וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא אִישׁ", וּכְמוֹ מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן שֶׁאָמְרוּ "וְנַחְנוּ מָה". וְלֹא אָסִיחַ אֶת דַּעְתִּי בִּשְׁעַת הַהִתְבּוֹדְדוּת מִמְּךָ אֲפִלּוּ לְרֶגַע קָט, וְאָחוּס עַל שְׁנוֹתַי הַצְּעִירוֹת וְעַל יְמֵי חַיַּי הַמֻּעָטִים אֲשֶׁר הֵם אַךְ וְרַק מֵאָה וְעֶשְׁרִים, וּפוֹרְחִים כְּעוֹף הַפּוֹרֵחַ וְכַחֲלוֹם יָעוּף. וְלָכֵן בִּשְׁעַת הַהִתְבּוֹדְדוּת אֲנַצֵּל כָּל שְׁנִיָּה וָרֶגַע, וְלֹא אֲנַמְנֵם שׁוּם נִמְנוּם, וְאֵדַע אֶת מַצַּב שִׁפְלוּתִי הֶעָצוּם, שֶׁאֵין שׁוּם דָּבָר שֶׁיַּצִּיל אוֹתִי חוּץ מִשְּׁעַת הַהִתְבּוֹדְדוּת, שֶׁאָז הִנְּךָ פּוֹנֶה מִכָּל עֲסָקֶיךָ וּמְרַחֵם בְּכָל לֵב וָנֶפֶשׁ עַל הַנְּשָׁמוֹת הָאֻמְלָלוֹת כְּמוֹתִי, וּפוֹנֶה אֲלֵיהֶם בְּעֹצֶם רַחֲמֶיךָ וּמַעֲלֶה אוֹתָם מִשְּׁפַל הַמַּדְרֵגָה עַד לְרוּם הַמַּעֲלוֹת, כֵּן בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ הָרַבִּים תַּעֲלֶה גַּם אוֹתִי מִשְּׁפַל הַמַּדְרֵגוֹת לְרוּם הַמַּעֲלוֹת עַד אֵין סוֹף וְעַד אֵין חֵקֶר, וַעֲשֵׁה עִמִּי נִפְלָאוֹת שֶׁעֲדַיִן לֹא עָשִׁיתָ עִם שׁוּם אָדָם מֵעוֹלָם. וְאֶזְכֶּה לַחֲזֹר בִּתְשׁוּבָה שְׁלֵמָה, וּלְהַחֲזִיר אֶת כָּל עַם יִשְׁרָאֵל בִּתְשׁוּבָה, וְנִזְכֶּה כֻּלָּנוּ לַגְּאֻלָּה הַשְּׁלֵמָה, וּלְבִיאַת מָשִׁיחַ בֶּן דָּוִד, וּלְבִנְיַן בֵּית הַמִּקְדָּשׁ, וְלִתְחִיַּת הַמֵּתִים, בִּמְהֵרָה בְּיָמֵינוּ, אָמֵן.
