A Prayer to Forgive Everyone

Mar 8, 2026•עורך ראשיPrayer

Master of the Universe, Almighty, grant me the merit to forgive each and every person. May I never hold a grudge over any insult, nor against anyone who hurts or offends me. On the contrary, may I merit to strengthen him with all kinds of encouragement, and merit to support him in whatever he needs. Please, my Father, grant me the merit to bring joy to all those who oppose me, and to gladden them with all kinds of joy, as it is written: "You have put joy in my heart, more than when their grain and new wine abound." May I rejoice in every single success they have, and feel sorrow over any kind of pain that befalls them, Heaven forbid. May I pray for them day and night (the gematria of which is 177), that no harm should befall them, Heaven forbid, because they oppose me. Rather, on the contrary, may Hashem gladden them with all kinds of joy and strengthen them with all kinds of encouragement. Please, Hashem, grant me the merit to fulfill what I say every single day: "Let my soul be as dust to all, and to those who curse me let my soul be silent." May I not feel any insult, and may I fulfill what is written in Torah 55: "And in His Temple, all say, 'Glory!'"—that all the insults in the world are truly just words of praise and glory for the person being shamed. Rather, as Rebbe Nachman says in Torah 5: "An ear that listens to life-giving rebuke will lodge among the wise"—that if a person listens to someone shaming another person, it shows what a low spiritual level that listener is on. For all the Divine letter combinations that are meant to be words of praise become inverted for him into words of contempt and blasphemy. And not only that, but he is dragged after them and believes them. This shows that he will never leave Gehenna—not at the coming of Mashiach, and not at the Resurrection of the Dead.
