Prayer: A Person's Entire Spiritual Work is to be Enveloped Under the Wings of the Cherubim Throughout the Year Through the Power and Merit of the Sukkah and the Secret
"A Ma'amar (Discourse) for Sukkos"
On Sukkos, we see Hashem face to face. Every law of the Sukkah is learned from the Cherubim, who spread their wings over the Kaporet (Ark cover). The wings are ten handbreadths above the Kaporet, and from there we learn the minimum height of a Sukkah—from the height of the Cherubim's wings above the Kaporet. This is because the Sukkah is essentially the wings of the Cherubim, and a person comes into the world to be enveloped within the wings of the Cherubim. This is what Boaz meant when he told Ruth, "And when you are thirsty, go to the youths (ne'arim)." These "youths" refer to the wings of the Cherubim, which spread their wings over the Kaporet and over each and every individual. Every single person must remain under the wings of the Cherubim throughout the entire year. Through the mitzvah of Sukkah, which corresponds to the wings of the Cherubim, we merit to remain under their wings all year long, from which we learn every law of the Sukkah.
In truth, the Clouds of Glory began on the fifteenth of Nissan, which means we should have had to eat Matzah in the Sukkah, since both the Matzah and the Clouds of Glory occurred together on the fifteenth of Nissan. Therefore, the Sifrei asks—and the Mishneh Lemelech cites this in Hilchos Chametz U'Matzah (Chapter 6, Halacha 2)—should we make Matzah together with the Clouds of Glory on Pesach, or should we eat Matzah in the Sukkah in Tishrei, since everything happened at the exact same time? Rather, the Sifrei answers, the Torah states, "On this festival of Matzos" and "In the seventh month on this festival of Sukkos." This teaches that you shall eat Matzah on Pesach in Nissan, and you shall make Sukkos as a remembrance of the Clouds of Glory in Tishrei on the festival of Sukkos.
Therefore, the Sukkah corresponds to the Sukkah of the Leviathan, which is the secret of the fifty. As it is written, "And Moshe brought their judgment near" (Numbers 27:5), where the letter Nun in the word "mishpatan" (their judgment) is an enlarged letter Nun, corresponding to the Fifty Gates of Understanding (Binah). Because when we rectify the two inverted Nuns in the passage "And it came to pass when the Ark traveled" (Numbers 10:35), immediately, at that very moment, the Sukkah of the Leviathan will be revealed. We will then merit the revelation of Mashiach ben Yosef and Mashiach ben David, who correspond to these two Nuns.
For the success of the Rav and the Rebbetzin and all their family members, spiritually and materially.
