A Prayer to Merit Preparing Myself Before the Rav's Class and to Hear Torah from the Tzaddik Who is a Cemented Cistern
A Prayer Before the Rav's Class
Please Hashem, Almighty, grant me the merit to prepare myself before the Rav's class, to hear the words of the living God, as it is said, "If the Rav is like an angel of Hashem of Hosts, they should seek Torah from his mouth." As it is said, "My covenant was with him of life and peace, and I gave them to him for reverence, and he revered Me, and stood in awe of My Name. The Torah of truth was in his mouth, and injustice was not found on his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many away from iniquity. For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and they should seek Torah from his mouth, for he is an angel of Hashem of Hosts." Therefore, may we merit during the class to hear the lesson with thunder and lightning (with awe and revelation), in the aspect of a "cemented cistern that loses not a drop," so that we do not lose, God forbid, a single utterance of the words of the living God. And may we merit to understand one thing from another (deep comprehension), and may we merit that the words enter our hearts and transform us from one extreme to the other, as it is said, "Go forth from your land, and from your birthplace, and from your father's house, to the land that I will show you... and you shall be a blessing." And may we merit to be one who speaks and acts, decrees and fulfills, to fulfill every single utterance and every single word of the Rav.
