Prayer for a Groom on the Day of His Chuppah

Master of the Universe, Almighty, grant me the merit on the day of my chuppah (wedding canopy) to emerge from all my terrible lusts, especially the lust of immorality. May I have no physical lust for my wife, and may I merit to fulfill what is stated in Shivchei HaRan 17, "that during the holy and awesome union, it is fitting to feel all the suffering in the world, like in Auschwitz and Treblinka." For the suffering that the tzaddik experiences during the holy and awesome union is suffering beyond all measure, which no mortal could withstand. But Rebbe Nachman promises every person, even the simplest of the simple, that he too can merit to be like him, achieving the level of "exactly like me"—to feel all the suffering in the world throughout his life during the holy and awesome union. ©
