“Rav Koenig, z”tl, was the biggest Tzaddik of the generation”
Today, the Shuvu Banim community is mourning the passing of one of Breslov’s leading lights, Rav Elazar Mordechai Koenig, z”tl, who was niftar in Tsfat yesterday, January 1, 2019, at the age of 73.
Rav Koenig, the son of the illustrious Rabbi Gedaliah Aaron Koenig, z”tl, had lead the Tsfat Breslov community in Israel for almost 40 years, and was very widely loved and respected in the wider Breslov community around the world.
Rav Eliezer Berland, shlita, eulogized Rav Koenig by saying:
“Rav Koenig was the greatest in the generation. He was baki (expertly learned) in both the revealed and the hidden Torah. He was the Rebbe, mamash. THE FACT THAT THERE ARE chareidi Jews IN Tsfat IS all in his merit.
“He was the last of the Tzaddikim.”
