The Daily Shiur of our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a, from Sunday, the night of 11 Elul, Parashat Ki Tavo, after Ma’ariv:
So “Remember what Hashem your God did to Miriam on the way in your leaving Egypt” (Devarim 24:9). [We need to remember this about Miriam? But] Miriam only sang and danced — it is written “Miriam the prophetess — the sister of Aharon — took the drum in her hand, and all the women went out after her with drums and dancing” (Shemot 15:20). Then how is it possible to tell [us] to remember some story, that she heard from Eldad and Medad that her brother would die, and then she went out of her mind and then called Aharon and sought advice, and they travelled to Uman, to Berditchev. First thing , travel to Berditchev to pray, without exceptions. She travelled immediately to Berditchev and from there to Medzibuz, and from there to… until a Heavenly voice emerged and said: “Don’t worry. Moshe will live another forty years.” This isn’t a true prophecy! Moshe will live, and live, and live, and he lives forever, for all eternity! And all of this was in the merit of the dancing, that Miriam would sing and dance twenty-four hours. Then the Tzaddik lives and endures!
