Also in the southern city of Ofakim, they merited to draw close to the light of lights, Rabbeinu HaKadosh zya”a, through the way of our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a. In the city, there are not a small number of Litvak avrechim (Kollel students), talmidim of Rabbi Shimshon David Pincus zt”l, who merit to illuminate their souls and receive their vitality from Rav Berland shlit”a.
These avrechim merited to enter the inner sanctum last Monday, the evening of 19 Menachem-Av for a special shiur, words of the Living G-d, from our Rebbe Rav Berland shlit”a.
At the beginning of the shiur, the Rav shlit”a spoke about the matter of the golden calf, which is mentioned in parashat Ekev. Afterwards, he spoke about the importance and greatness of hearing a shiur from the mouth of the Tzaddik. Afterwards, he spoke about guarding one’s eyes. Then he spoke about Aggadah in the Prophets and Writings, and likewise the incident with Eliyahu on Mount Carmel, concluding with the matter of the sale of Yosef, mentioning Likutey Moharan 4 which speaks about how Yehuda’s bones rolled around in his coffin, and that Yosef merited to maximize his time in prison for dancing. The Rav said that a person can finish all of Shas if he’s in prison, mentioning the people who were arrested in the times of the underground and finished Shas a number of times.
The strengthened avrechim left the home of Rav Berland shlit”a for the continuation of Bein HaZmanim. There’s no doubt that the shiur gave them greater strength to begin the period of Elul with greater desire to learn the holy Torah and for avodat Hashem – so one of the avrechim told us.
