Prayer to Choose True Good

Ribono Shel Olam – Master of the World, endow us graciously from Yourself good wisdom that’s above all wisdom – mentalities of complete faith that You are Master of everything, above everything, and there is nothing higher than You, filling all worlds and surrounding all worlds, and above all worlds, below all worlds, and between all worlds, and there is no place that is empty of You.

Let me merit to know and to understand that every thought, word, and action that is not in holiness comes because of the turbidity of our minds and blood.  Let us merit to use the choice that You gave to us to choose the good — to choose the good thoughts which you send to us, and through their power to overcome the evil thoughts.  To choose the awesome Tzadikim who You have sent to us and to cling to them and to their strength in order to escape from all the disgusting thoughts and evil deeds which we have clung to, G-d save us.  Oy to us, because we have gone from one opposite to the other, and we have been like Pharaoh the wicked who didn’t pay heed to all the awesome signs and wonders, because we haven’t paid heed to all the wondrous hints which you allude to us at every moment and second, and we haven’t inclined our ears to the voice of the proclamations which reverberate from one end of the world to the other.

Please Merciful One, nothing is withheld from You, for You are all-powerful – let us merit to choose only good.  Because even though that through Your will You created the heavens, the sea and the earth, the sun, the moon and the stars, and endless legions of angels and fiery angels (Serafim), humankind specifically — because he is capable of choosing — is more important than all of them.  Therefore, raise up the point of my choice higher and higher in holiness and purity, until I don’t desire the life of this temporal world at all, and all my yearning and longing will only be to cling to, love, and fear Your great and awesome Name.  Let me merit that the light of my soul will shine in all that’s created and formed, even in the inanimate, [in] plant life, animals, and humans, until all will yearn only for Hashem alone.

Let me merit to be holy and pure in all my thoughts, words, and actions, and [that] no foreign thought will enter my mind, [so that] I will always be involved only in spiritual matters of spreading Torah and fear of Heaven, until I merit to be cleansed and purified to the ultimate degree of holiness and purity, that there’s nothing higher than it.
