“The Sitra Achra (Side of Evil) doesn’t have a place at the time of the redemption. When the great Accuser comes at the time of judgment, Hashem Yitbarach will take out pieces of paper and show him that all [debts] been collected from Israel. Hashem collects [debts] from Israel little by little, but for everything.
“The Sitra Achra knows that the redemption is really close. This is the great encouragement that we have for everything that happens to each person – one needs to hold on a little more. The Sitra Achra knows this. Therefore, it wants to hold off the redemption a little more.
“The Tzaddik fights a war with them, until the break of dawn. This is the war of Yaakov with the angel of Esav. This is a spiritual war, that the angel wanted to put into Yaakov evil thoughts, but the angel didn’t succeed. At the time of the war with the angel of Esav, all the angels abandoned Yaakov, but the souls of his fathers, Avraham and Yitzchak were channeled into him.
“Hashem wanted Yaakov to win the war alone, so all the angels abandoned him, but his fathers were with him – Avraham, Yitzchak, and the holy Shechinah (Divine presence). A person needs to know that in everything that happens to him, the Tzaddik is with him and accompanies him – Hashem is with him.
“A person is always found in fears and worries about the future, but he must know that Hashem is with him. If a person knows that everything that he has is from Hashem, then he doesn’t have fear. King David was small in his own eyes – if I’m small, then Hashem protects me.
“The angel of Esav that fought with Yaakov saw on his right Avraham and on his left Yitzchak and couldn’t touch him. In the end, he touched Yaakov’s thigh. Rabbi Natan says that this [represents] the last generations, that he put into them worries and fallen fears. But one needs to know that all the thoughts which aggrieve him are not the truth. He needs to strengthen himself in the way of Torah and prayer and to hold onto the connection with the Tzaddik.
“If a person strengthens himself in the way of serving Hashem, he merits that Hashem Yitbarach endows his soul with everything that he needs. Hashem prepares for us gifts, but one needs to go through all the purifications and life’s transitions in order to receive these gifts.
