A very important message in light of the harsh situation that we are found in, from Rav Mordechai Sofrin shlit”a, one of the veteran Talmidim of Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a:
I usually do not talk here about Rav Berland. This is my Rabbi; so I tell you stories, like I told you about the trial [a story that he told]. But in the story of the Master of Prayer [from Rabbi Nachman’s Stories], there are ten people by the king; there is the sage, the queen, the princess, the strongman, the baby, the treasurer. If Rav Berland is one of these people, then he is the strongman.
This man [Rav Berland], I do not know any man who is as strong as he is. I do not know, have not heard of, have not seen, and have not read in books about might like I have seen by him.
This strongman sweetens all the judgments. He can sweeten terrible judgments from us — everything! Only what? You need to give him the strength! You need to be connected to him! Even someone who does not believe in him!!
I know that there are people here who do not believe in him. Come, there is trouble now. We want to sweeten judgments! Let’s give him strength — there is something [unique] which Rav Berland revealed, and a few years ago this became revealed to the whole world. This is called the “P’rakim Nevcharim” (Selected Chapters)!
This was in secret, and no one spoke about this, but little-by-little, this secret became revealed. Little-by-little, people began to speak about this, that there are P’rakim Nevcharim which Rav Berland revealed, that they are special chapters.
This is Tikkun HaBrit, not just for unintentional sins, but even for intentional sins, and all the most serious sins in the world!
There is such an attack, there is such a blow — in truth, this is a terrible decree that happened to us here on Simchat Torah! This is a warning about the future; for the future, Rav Berland needs our strength!
This is his [the P’rakim Nevcharim]. Simply, anyone who merits to say this, they give him what is his! Because what does this arouse when we do our part?
This gives Rav Berland the desire to overcome!! “Therefore, Israel needs to be in their connection and unity with the Tzaddik” (Noam Elimelech) — you need to be one with the Tzaddik!
[The P’rakim Nevcharim] is what he revealed? Then I will go with this! Because this is his, so I give him this. And through this, the Tzaddik is girded in strength to cancel the judgments!
He has a desire to overcome, because you know what sort of suffering he bears for this? [Rav Berland needs] to enter such harsh judgments as a decree of destruction, to enter such wars — for what should he enter? There everyone disputes him, everyone belittles him.
And suddenly people come and say to him, “We are with you!” [Then the Rav says]: “Fine, I will go in and what will be, will be.” He sacrifices his soul!
Like Moshe Rabbeinu, “And Israel encamped there in front of the mountain” (Shemot 19:2) — everyone as one man together with him!
If we do this, then fine, Rav Berland will cancel from you all the decrees.
This is what I came to tell you. Before everything, that we should understand what is happening here — this is approximately the explanation of what is happening here. There is a decree here on the Jewish people, became the judgments became overwhelming. We do not need to explain why the judgments became overwhelming — this is clear to everyone. Everyone sees, everyone knows. This is not between man and the Creator — this is about how we live.
And the judgments are harsh. [And with all the terrible pain], the decree, baruch Hashem, finished on a small scale — a small scale compared to a decree of annihilation. This is on a small scale, but this is on the direction to there… And the sweetening of this is the aspect of prayer of the Ba’al Koach [a person with great strength], that is the aspect of judgment!
Where is the Ba’al Koach? You know a Ba’al Koach who can cancel such decrees? This is the situation now!
For whoever wants, I have brought several “P’rakim Nevcharim”; say them, and bezrat Hashem, give to Rav Berland the power to sweeten the judgments from us!
And then there will be great livelihood and great bounty for all the Jewish people, for each and every person. And if Hashem wants it, this will be completely successful — then the Messiah will come and redeem us with the complete redemption!
